| Collection Areas and Methods
WISER Recycling operates a milk round collection service throughout
the UK from our existing bases in Cambridge and Huddersfield. Our
core business is collection and recycling of lamps. The bulkiness
of the tubes and the storage containers results in haulage vehicles
which are large in size and engine capacity, and often accompanied
essentially by a fork lift truck. This leads to decreased flexibility,
increased environmental emissions, and access and safety problems
on sites where turning and parking area is restricted.
WISER Recycling utilises lamp collection methods based on reducing
volume on the site of production. We achieve this by using our on-site
crushing device – the ‘TubeEater’, see our TubeEater
information page. The TubeEater safely
reduces the size of the lamp saving space on collection vehicles,
reducing the vehicle size, and increasing the payload. This drastically
reduces our transportation need and the resulting carbon footprint.
A considerable advantage over alternative bulk collection methods.
One-Stop WEEE Collections
In reducing the bulk of lamps at point of collection we save valuable
space on our vehicles. We always seek to provide our customers with
a single “one-stop” collection service for WEEE materials,
even for producers of small quantities of WEEE, where our single
transport charge remains the same if we collect other items at the
same time.
